Workshop: Vietnam government priorities for prevent and control diarrhea

On 22 and 23/12/2011 Institute of Population, Health and Development (PHAD) conducted the workshop consulting experts on prevention and control of diarrhea. This was an activity in study assessing the situation of diarrhea and diarrhea prevention polices of children in Vietnam conducted by PHAD in collaboration with Boston University.

Goal of the Meeting: Provide guidance related to the implementation of programs and policies related to childhood diarrhea in the country including providing recommendations on ways to remove barriers and future directions.

Participants came from the Ministry of Health, UNICEF Vietnam, National Hospital of Pediatric, National Institute of Pulmonary disease and Tuberculosis, National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Children’s Hospital I, Saint Paul Hospital, Hanoi Preventive Medicine center. With the administration of PhD. Duc Ha Anh – Ministry of Health, MA Nguyen Thi Thi Tho , PhD. Nguyen Cong Khanh – National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, 2- days of workshop was successful and achieved the desired results.

There were 3 discussion groups: Policy/Strategy and governance; Health care system, Funding/Resource Mobilization, they discussed implementing measures to prevent and control diarrhea of children in the period ahead. The results of the workshop will be oriented solutions for diarrhea prevention activities of the research.
