Vietnam is one of the few countries with a typical socialist health care structure. From the organisational perspective it is a comprehensive system, however the quality of services has been of increasing concern to the community over the last few years. Patients often bypass the village or commune levels and come directly to the provincial or central level to seek health care.
PHAD staff are introducing a well-designed intervention model that will help to improve the performance of the health system and to measure the impact and effectiveness. With funding from AP through the Population Council, PHAD staff are measuring the impact of an e-health system on the health indicators of people in Thai Nguyen province.
PHAD research also identifies gaps and problems in the health care system, as well as the quality of services provided. Our research aims to find easy to implement solutions to improve health care services in low income settings.
