The Longitudinal Study of Ageing and Health in Viet Nam (LSAHV) is the first nationally representative longitudinal study on ageing in Viet Nam. The study is conducted by the Institute of Population, Health and Development (PHAD) in close research collaboration with, and with financial support from, the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). It forms part of the broader Longitudinal Study of Ageing and Health initiative implemented in Viet Nam and the Philippines.
Wave 2 of the LSAHV continues to follow older persons who participated in the baseline survey, providing updated information on their health, socioeconomic conditions, social engagement, functional status, caregiving arrangements, and access to healthcare services. By collecting data from the same individuals over time, the study offers valuable insights into the ageing process and the changing circumstances of older persons in Viet Nam.
The LSAHV provides an important evidence base for research, policy development, and programme design. Its findings contribute to efforts to promote healthy ageing, strengthen social protection systems, improve healthcare services, and enhance the quality of life of older persons in Viet Nam.
