The Institute of Population, Health and Development (PHAD) was selected to be one of three organizations to cooperate with PACT to implement the program “Increasing Access to Comprehensive HIV Care and Support Services for People Living with HIV/AIDS and Children Orphaned or Made Vulnerable by HIV/AIDS”. This program is within the framework of the “Domestic Co-operation Initiatives” project of PACT Viet Nam funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of PEPFAR.

The program aimed at enabling greater access for people with HIV and orphans or vulnerable children and their families, to comprehensive services of health and social support on the basis of their needs. The support included community home-based care and family-centered activities with the participation of the target beneficiaries.

The program was carried out in BaoThang District in Lao Cai Province. It focused on strengthening the capacity of caregivers and providing a package of comprehensive services for 250 people with HIV and 100 HIV-infected or vulnerable children
