Improving supportive intervention programs for caregivers of dementia patients and research capacity on dementia in Vietnam – REACH VN

The National Geriatric Hospital is cooperating with the University of California, Davis, USA and the University of South Carolina, USA to implement the project “Improving supportive intervention programs for caregivers of dementia patients and research capacity on dementia in Vietnam” – REACH VN in 5 years from 2019-2024, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. The project consists of two main programs: research capacity building on dementia for Vietnamese scientists and an intervention support program for caregivers of dementia patients.

As part of this project, the Institute of Population, Health and Development, participates in capacity building and independent assessment in the intervention support program. The capacity-building program will provide technical supports and small grants for researchers in Vietnam to conduct research related to dementia. The intervention support program is currently being implemented in Hai Duong province. It is expected that in the 4 years of intervention, about 350 caregivers of dementia patients will participate in the project.
