Improve the health of ethnic minority students, through sustainable safe clean water supply

The Institute of Population, Health and Development (PHAD), a non-profit organization under Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, will implement the “Improve the health of ethnic minority students, through sustainable safe clean water supply” project funded by non-refundable aid funding from the Czech Republic

Phan Thanh commune is a poor mountainous commune in Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province with a total population of 3,053 mainly Dao, Nung, Hmong, and Thai ethnic groups. The commune has 3 schools including preschool, primary school and secondary school. The project will be implemented in Phan Thanh commune from May 2021 to September 2021 by PHAD, with a total cost of CZK 447,000 (USD 20,818)

The project aims to increase access to clean water and school drinking water for ethnic minority students in preschool, primary school and secondary school at Phan Thanh commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province.

The expected results are:
– 03 clean water and school drinking water supply systems at 03 schools and installed and supplied clean water, which meets the Viet Nam National Technical Regulations (QCVN), for 850 ethnic minority students, 67 teachers;
– 01 Management Board of clean water and school drinking water supply systems is established; management regulation is enacted to maintain the sustainability of the clean water and school drinking water supply system; capacity of the management board on safe and economical water supply is strengthen; teacher and students are enhanced knowledge, attitudes and practice on water and health, water-saving and safe.
