Simultaneous with the implementation of the Peer Education Program for New Military Recruits, PHAD is planning a comprehensive change within the Military Health System for Voluntary Counseling and Testing Services (VCT). The aim is to infuse new and up-to-date information and techniques for various VCT centers within the system, especially, provider-initiated mechanism.
PHAD is collaborating with the MMD, CDC, and Ministry of Health in developing the prime provider-initiated counseling and testing manuals to train general doctors and health professionals, first implemented within the outpatient clinic of the Military Health System. In 2011, PHAD will carry-out multiple trainings and technical assistance for military doctors and supervisors at outpatient clinics. Also, practical study-tour visits to best VCT practice centers and hospitals are included in the training modules.
Provisions of appropriate tools and intensive training sessions to healthcare professionals, PHAD expects major supplementations to the VCT programs in the military, as well as in the general healthcare facilities.
