International Honors Program (IHP) (Location: Hanoi, Hoa Binh - Duration: From 2009 - ongoing)

The International Honors Program, founded as the International School of America in 1958, gives students an unequaled opportunity to study overseas in multiple countries for one year or a semester. The International Honors Program is a program of World Learning / SIT, a 75-year-old nonprofit organization that operates experiential education and community-driven development projects in more than 70 countries. Approximately thirty students are selected to participate in each program. Students are varied in their personal backgrounds, and are from different universities and many areas of study. Though most participants are college students, IHP is unique in terms of both its intellectual content and its challenge for motivation and self-discipline of its students. For many alumni, the IHP experience directly influences their graduate school or career choice. IHP prompts students to ask lifelong questions about their role in a global community. 2012 is the fourth year PHAD participating in this program.

To ensure exposure to each country's peoples and cultures, IHP arranges for students to stay in local homes and communities whenever possible. Many students stay in contact with their hosts for years afterward. In this program, students will reside in the local family, do housework with host family and participate in open discussions with the heads of local and activist. Students will have the oppoturnity to approach issues in a comprehensive and enhanced ability to analyze problems systematically.

In 2012, in cooperation with the organizer of the International Study Abroad Program (International, Honors Program), we will hold a component in this program at the University of Public Health. The purpose of the program is to give them more than 20 students from leading universities in the United States participate in a dynamic learning environment, creative, close to the actual shot combined with exchange of in developing countries. Program in 2012, the American students will take three countries including South Africa, Brazil and Vietnam.

In Vietnam, we are looking for a number of families whose children are students learning English, meet some basic requirements of the program given to students from the United States can come to life activities, cultural exchange at the home of a 03 week period. The entire cost of accommodation and travel of students or other costs incurred due to sickness, accidents and other IHP Institute is responsible to pay.

The selection criteria for families that students will come to your country of residence:

• The families and neighbors to ensure the conditions as clean, safe in the context of local culture.
• All family members must be in good health, no one was recently infectious diseases or any health problems.
• Ability to provide a bedroom with full facilities needed.
• Family members can speak English (or less) and always ready to talk with your students.
• The family must have at least two members and / or participate in activities with family or community members.
• In relation to the travel of students from residence to class. Students can walk to class or by public transport
