Using significant large amount of pesticides and illegal chemical for agricultural work/products, import poor/out-of-date technologies to develop the industrial industry and short vision of farmer and even community leaders have created a significant change in diseases pattern of Vietnamese over last 20 years. Infectious diseases from the top killer now going down after cancers, cardiovascular and traffic accidents.
In addition to that, with fast and rapid civilization, thousand hectares of forests were cut down for construction, rice/corn fields, road construction or even hydropower damps. All these created many unpredictable disasters to Vietnamese community and the disaster is more serious year by years.
PHAD focus its effort to study about how climate change influence to human health, and try to introduce some efforts to protect environment such as less using pesticides or using them correctly, collection of used chemical/pesticide package, bags to ensure that they would not be thrown into canal or well, introduction list of legal not illegal chemical/pesticide to use in the agricultural activities including preservation; reforestation and protection of natural resources.
